Telling My Story

What stories did you love as a kid? Stories filled my life from an early age. I met heroes with brave imaginations, outspoken opinions, and loyal companions. I could see myself in Jo March, Anne Shirley, Lucy Pevensie, and Leslie Burke and aspired to be even more like them. These stories illustrated my loves: for family, adventure, sacrifice, and grace. The stories became part of me, filling me with bravery and creativity.

From an early age, I was immersed in the biblical story, too. It became clear that this was a story about Jesus and a story I was invited to join. I learned that all the things that resonated most deeply in the pages of my novels were etched into Scripture’s pages first. I began to see myself in the biblical story and find my place within that story.

I joined Youth for Christ in college and have worked with them in the US, Thailand, and Germany. For fifteen years, I have been on staff at Black Forest Academy, an international school in Germany. My passion is to see the story of Jesus transform lives and institutions.

Colossians 1:6 says, “This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.” I love seeing lives restored and re-storied as people discover the truth of God’s wonderful grace found in Jesus.
